AUDITIONS for DANCE & MUSICAL THEATRE Scholarship / Apprenticeship Programs

ABOUT: The Academy of Performing Arts San Diego is home to an extensive TRAINING PROGRAM for pre-professional / professional adults (with an emphasis on DANCE or MUSICAL THEATER). The program was specifically designed to provide all of the "skills based training" essential to the current trends of a professional career in the arts. The goal of our program is to provide actors, singers, & dancers with the best training available. This training helps our students to become very well rounded and competent performing artists. Our program has proven to be one of the West Coast's most successful training programs in the private sector.

SINGERS, be prepared to sing first (at 2pm). Bring sheet music or tracks (accompanist provided).

EVERYONE, Be prepared to do all styles of dance (all material provided by a panel of choreographers, no prepared material necessary for dance).FEMALES should bring character shoes / heels (just in case). Please wear suggested clothing (listed below):

• BALLET:
  
  • Females; Black leotard, Pink tights, & Pink slippers
  • Males; Black t-shirts, Black dance shorts (or tights), White socks & ballet shoes
• JAZZ/CONTEMPORARY:
  
  • Females; Barefoot or jazz shoes ok, switch from tights to black dance shorts
  • Males; Barefoot or jazz shoes ok, no clothing change
• HIP HOP:
  
  • Males & Females; any attire ok

Accomplishments:

Previous scholarship students are currently performing with contracts varying from dance companies to Broadway, Film, & Television. This often includes union affiliations such as: SAG, EQUITY, AGVA, AGMA, & AFTRA.

APA's scholarship program has been the strongest and most well rounded program in Southern California for 20 years.
